Audience
Driving adults between the ages of 18-39 in Los Angeles County.

Solution
The solution was to create an app that connects LA drivers with real time traffic alerts.

Survey

I sent out a screener survey and got 7 eligible participants to interview. All participants deal with traffic on a daily basis, 75% of the participants are later than expected due to traffic at least once a week.
I then sent the 7 eligible participants a straw poll asking if they would prefer a traffic app layout to be vertical or horizontal.
Competitive Analysis
Main competitor was Waze App on mobile. There are way too many menus and confusing navigation for a driver to be expected to use safely.

Study Highlights
Changed app name from RateMyPlate to Vacant Roads due to confusion with Users.
Users can easily send and receive traffic alerts.
Significant Discovery
While having a driver’s perspective in mind while designing the layout, User Tests have concluded further reiteration and testing is required for the layout before Vacant Roads is safe for launch.
Interpretation of Findings
Overall, Users seem content with the ability to use Vacant Roads once launched. According to our research, there seems to be a high demand for traffic information.
